How Yoga Can Lengthen Your Lifespan

How Yoga Can Lengthen Your Lifespan

Does any of us ever honestly know what our bodies are capable of? For those who have been practicing yoga for a while, we may have had days where we witnessed our bodies do a pose we couldn't do before—or something of the sort. But how, how exactly, can yoga lengthen your lifespan? Is it possible to "cheat" death by practicing a little bit of yoga daily/weekly?

We all strive to live a long, healthy life. So, if yoga can lengthen your lifespan, maybe, just maybe, we should practice it as often as possible.

Yoga Reduces Cell-Level Damage

Over time, practicing yoga slows your cell level damage within your body. By being mindful and practicing meditation, your body goes into a state of ease and less stress and anxiety. In other words, you may go onto the mat upset, frustrated, angry, stressed, etc. You practice yoga, and you suddenly feel at ease and even peaceful. All those feeling prior to practice disappear. In the same way, yoga eases your mind, body, and spirit. It "eases" your cells too.

Decrease in C-Reactive Proteins

Meditative activities during yoga practices can drop C-Reactive proteins in your blood. What does this mean? C-Reactive proteins are linked to inflammation. When you get overly

stressed, inflammation can get kicked into over-drive. Over time, that inflation could lead to something more serious. Severe illnesses may include cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Yoga relieves stress since it interferes with our nervous system (in a good way) and its ability to release stress hormones. In addition, yoga boosts your feel-good hormones like oxytocin in the brain.

Yoga for Longevity

When practicing yoga, you will age with ease and vitality. And yes, anyone can do it. You'll have greater mobility within your body. There is this better sense of ease. And you'll love your better range of motion in your own body. You'll keep that sense of youth as you age and maintain that variance. Defy sitting at a desk all day or standing to the point your knees/back aches by practicing yoga.

There is so much more research showing how yoga can lengthen your lifespan. But, what is mentioned above are only a few ways it can do so. So, what kind of yoga do you look forward to practicing? How much time a week can you practice yoga? Do you see your yoga practice differently after reading this?
