Things to Know Before your First Vinyasa Class.
Things to Know Before your First Vinyasa Class
Now that we have a better understanding of what the breakdown of the word “Vinyasa” (“vi” is to place and “nyasa” means in a special way) means and we have an idea of what Vinyasa means to us during our yoga practices, we must register for a class or two. Here are things to know before your first Vinyasa class, so there is no need to panic.
YTB Vinyasa Flow Classes
You should first know the type of classes we offer at Yoga Tribe (Brooklyn YTB). These classes include:
¬ Vinyasa Flow 75
¬ Vinyasa Flow 60
¬ Heated Vinyasa Flow
¬ Vinyasa Yoga (Rocket)
Some classes are not heated since heat will naturally come from your flow, while others are heated. Each level of Vinyasa varies, so if you are new to Vinyasa Flow, you should take Vinyasa Flow 60. If you are up for a challenge, you should try Heated Vinyasa Flow or Vinyasa Yoga (rocket).
Every Movement is Linked to Breath
Another thing you should know before your first Vinyasa Class is every movement you flow in is linked to your breath. So although each of our classes offers different sequences, your breath will link to each flow differently.
Listen to your Breath
You aren’t just moving in and out of poses in these classes. You are pausing within poses as well. There are elements of movements and levels of stillness that are present within each of our Vinyasa classes.
Be sure to USE your breath and LISTEN to it. While you are flowing on your mat, listen to your breath. Listen to your breath when you find yourself in the stillness of your posture.
Find your Balance
Between flexibility, breath and strength, find your balance. No matter the sequences within your classes, observe your body within each flow and find your internal and external balance.
No matter the level of yoga you practice, you are encouraged to take a Vinyasa Class. Define what Vinyasa flow is to you and make it yours. With so many variants of yoga, why choose only one type of practice. Learn to use these tips in not only your first Vinyasa class but all our classes here at YTB.
