Take responsibility for your own realizations

Yogananda, who introduced millions of westerners to the teachings of yoga, said that it is a practice that contains timeless truths which can renovate our nature.

Reflecting on his own experiences, he said that during yoga, he was wholeheartedly listening to himself, and as healing words paved him like an avalanche of light, he dipped unknowingly into the reservoir of cosmic energy.

Sounds like an inspiring experience. One that any of us would hope to attain.

The hard part about using yoga to renovate our own nature is, we have to allow it to. We have to take responsibility for our own realizations. And that’s a practice in and of itself.

I once visited a studio that had a blank notebook stationed in the lobby for students to share their epiphanies, insights, and other visions received during class.

Some entries were single words, some were drawings, some were only a few short sentences, and others were half-page rants.

But all entries were perfect first steps in making the word flesh.

Documenting the wisdom received during class.

Taking responsibility for their realizations.

What ritual could you put in place to use timeless truths to renovate your nature?
