How Yoga Can Make a Difference in Your Life
How Yoga Can Make a Difference in Your Life
Life consists of so many things. What's life without mindfulness, a healthy body, and a happy spirit? Yoga is widely known for improving all of the above. So why aren't more of us practicing? If mindfulness isn't practiced, bodies rot away, and spirits are down, what kind of life is left to live? Not much of one. Yoga can make a difference, but you have to want it.
So, how exactly can yoga make a difference in your life? There are three ways it can. This include:
Being Mindful of your Body and your Surroundings
One way yoga can make a difference is by strengthening your relationship with your body and surroundings. Mindfulness may be difficult at first. While moving through each pose, you probably think: Am I doing this right? Or I'm not strong enough? Your attention may wander constantly; however, you breathe and find your way back to your practice.
Believe it or not, mindfulness is a practice you accumulate over time. As you strengthen and get more flexible on your mat, your mind wanders less and sticks with your breath. Before you know it, you are mindful of the world, what you eat, what you listen to, and more. You
learn that no matter the situation life brings, it's only temporary and passes through like a cloud.
Improves the Body
Another way yoga can make a difference in your life is by improving your body. Without a healthy, functional body, we wouldn't be able to do the things we love, like hiking, traveling, swimming, and more. So treat your body right, and it will treat you right back.
Your body will change over time, no matter what kind of yoga you choose to practice. Your relationship with your body will change too. You'll not only be stronger, but you'll feel stronger too. Yoga's countless physical benefits will make you feel and look great. When you look and feel great, well, you're unstoppable.
Improves the Spirit
No one is fun to be around when their spirits are low. But yoga can make a difference in your life by improving your spirit. No matter the day you have or what you feel like, the moment you step on your yoga mat, those heavy feelings and emotions begin to fade away. Those things holding you back before no longer seem to matter as you exhale and move through different poses.
Perhaps it's the inhales and exhales that lift spirits. Or the movement that takes place on the mat. Or it's the simple fact that you are in a collective and part of something bigger than yourself.
Whatever it is about yoga that improves spirit, it makes all the difference in the world. The main thing about yoga and how it can make a difference in your life is how it connects the mind, body, and spirit. You just must let it.
