At Least Five Things You Didn’t Know About Your Instructor, Francis!

At Least Five Things You Didn’t Know About Your Instructor, Francis!

At Yoga Tribe Brooklyn, we want you to feel a part of something bigger than yourself:  community. One of the ways we do that is through transparency. So this week, we want you to meet one of our instructors, Francis. We interviewed him for some fun and exciting questions so you can get to know him a little more. Here you are.

If you had to stay in one yoga pose for 24 hours, which one would it be? If I had to hold a pose for 24 hours, I guess it would be Savasana, even though it would be challenging, I feel I’m up for the challenge!

What was yoga-like for you in the beginning?

Yoga, in the beginning, was very intimidating but also so healing. I felt like if I tried no matter what, it was good enough, which I believe is true. Also really physically draining but rewarding as a huge accomplishment.

What would you advise new yogis?

Please be patient with yourself, and don't compare yoga practice to anyone else in the room.  Also, hydrate, trust the teacher to look out for you, and keep returning to your mat.

Do you have a favorite yogi/guru that inspires you? If so, who and why?

I don't subscribe to the guru model, but many teachers, too many to name off hand, have inspired and continue to inspire me.

If you got to go on a funded yoga retreat for one week and bring one person/pet, where would you retreat, and who would you bring?

I would for sure bring my girlfriend Jess, and she's an amazing person. I suppose someplace is tropical.

If yoga manifested into a person, fell head over heels for you, and even proposed to you,  would you marry them/date them or friend-zone them? Why?

Marry for sure! The word Yoga means union, so it just makes sense to me. How has your practice/teaching changed in the last two years?

In the last two years, I've really been able to become more in tune with how to help a group class as well as helping the individual in the class in a more precise way. Unfortunately, I don't get to practice as much as I'd like, so I recognize the time on the mat as valuable and make the most of it with my time.

So, there it is! We hope you got to know Francis a little more today. To learn more about our instructors, do so here!
